drapes.

well first let me say that most people would KILL for a room that has sunshine flooding into it…..
although it can also be very annoying….
SO…what you do is …..
buy some dark solid curtains with very light colored sheers underneath.
You need to hang two curtain rods …one for the dark …one for the light.
Use the sunlight in your favor…. have it when you want it and hide it when you dont…. it just needs to be managed.
A heavy draping material would hide the sunlight… especially if it has some rubber backing on it.
Sheers are easy enough…usually a cotton polyester blend material.
gauze for an intentionally sunny room
OR if there’s a bed and/or TV in the room, go with drapes that are lined with liner to control glare
My neighbors really like their solar shades that allow them to still see out but block the amount of sunlight coming in and reduce the amount of heat. You need to decide whether you are wanting to block it or filter it. Roman shades and cellular shades are effective. They are available in different fabrics from light filtering to room-darkening. Home Depot and on-line blind stores have help that can help you choose what is best for your decor and needs. Hope this helps.
