Q&A: Red living room furniture, what color walls and drapery?
Question by hairdoer: Red living room furniture, what color walls and drapery?
My living room furniture is red, I’m wondering what color to paint the walls, and what color window treatments I should get. My coffee table and end tables are walnut, and I have hard wood floors.

For paint, you could go with a deep brown or a slate gray. I think gold window treatments would work with a red couch and brown walls. Not a shiny gold, but more of a sheer gold. Experiment by picking up some paint samples at Lowe’s or Restoration Hardware. Have fun!

I really like floor-length curtains. They make any room look a little more classy. I’d probably do traditional rod-pocket curtains for that length. I just painted my living room red and I’m planning to find chocolate brown curtains with some fabulous, earthy texture. I originally wanted wooden blinds instead of curtains for a more modern look, but the price was a little astounding.

An antique white would look nice, but I’m not sure how well that would hold up in the kitchen.
One with very subtle tones of blue/green or very light gray would also work as well. Albeit a bit harder to find though.
