Window Treatments For Stylish And Beautiful Windows
Most of the people are not aware of what the window treatments are since it is not a commonly used phrase. However, if it needs to be explained in the simplest way possible, it could be said that window treatments are everything that is placed on, around or above the windows in the home and office. Once that has been said, it is easy for everyone to come up with the fact that window treatments usually include window curtains, blinds and drapes. Of course, there are others but those are the most used, liked and sold ones.
Window curtains
Window curtains are definitely a nice choice but it depends very much on the overall atmosphere that is available in the home. If the home is not really elegant and kind of aristocratic, choosing window curtains may be inappropriate. For instance, it would not look good if there is a leather couch and a small table (for beer) in the living room and beautiful and stylish curtains in the bedroom. Thatd be weird! So everybody should think twice before making the decision to purchase this particular kind of window treatments. Other than that, window curtains are great: they are stylish, they are beautiful and they will definitely contribute a lot to the aristocratic atmosphere in a home.
Blinds
Blinds are definitely a more preferred type of window treatments (when compared to the curtains). That is unsurprising since blinds offer some very important advantages which the curtains cannot offer. First of all, blinds are cheaper which is of great deal nowadays. Second, they would match every home no matter what furniture, walls etc there are in the home. The only thing which the buyer needs to think about is the color and model of the blinds but as they are available in so many colors and styles, it will definitely not take long until the perfect one is found. And the great thing about the blinds when used as window treatments is that they really can save a home from the sun in those terrible sunny and hot days in the summer. Thats something which the window curtains cannot do or at least cannot do it so effectively.
Drapes
Drapes are not so much different from the window curtains. They are a very beautiful example of window treatments and, just like the curtains, are appropriate for more aristocratic homes. The main difference between the window drapes and window curtains is that the drapes are usually longer and reach the rooms floor whereas the curtains are as long as the window frame.

What kind of window treatments give the most glamorous look?
Question by Pamela: What kind of window treatments give the most glamorous look?

Answer by breathe
It depends what kind of style you like. I love plantation shutters for a variety of reasons. They let in or keep out light very well, insulate your windows well and last a long time. They’re also classic so never go out of style. I like the wider slatted ones. They’re pretty expensive though! I’m getting ready to move out on my own again after divorce and won’t be able to afford them so I’m pondering about what to get on the windows at my next place. Maybe just simple mini blinds and nice curtains.
What do you think? Answer below!

Environmentally Friendly Window Treatments
Homeowners who are environmentally minded are often unsure of their options when it comes to window treatments. The good news is, there are plenty of affordable, environmentally friendly window treatments for any style of home.
A couple of the most popular blinds and shades include bamboo window treatments, certain brands of roller and solar shades and cell shades. Cell shades are the best insulators, while solar and roller shades work well in warmer climates to block heat. Bamboo shades bring a unique, tropical look to any home.
Before buying any window treatments, owners should decide what look they want for their room and what will go best aesthetically with their current décor.
As well, they should consider what qualities they want in a window blind or shade. The following are a few I recommend:
Double Cell Shades will help reduce energy use, saving money while being easy on the earth. There are two brands, among others, which qualify for a federal tax credit of up to $2,000.00. They are the EnergyTrack and Comfortrack brands. The double cell shades are the ones you want to look for. Their one-of-a-kind sidetrack system insulates the sides as well as tops and bottoms of windows, making them up to five times more efficient at keeping warm air in and drafts out than single window panes.
Bamboo Shades are a sustainable resource. Because they grow pretty much anywhere, and have weed-like properties, they don’t need pesticides or fertilizers to help them grow. Most bamboo is rain fed, meaning no additional water is necessary which helps preserve our water resources, unlike cotton. There are a few different designs of bamboo. The Tavarua line has great quality shades with a variety of different looks. Choose from Woven Wood Shades, Sliding Panels, Roller Shades or Ring Drapery.
EcoGreen Roller and Solar Shades are 100% recyclable, keeping them out of landfills. They are manufactured with eco-friendly fabrics. As far as homes go, they can help reduce air conditioning bills, by blocking the sun’s glare and UV rays. The weave in roller and solar shades allow for enjoyment of views even when closed without the sun’s fading qualities. These window treatments also qualify towards LEED certification. They help promote energy performance, material and resource use and improve indoor environmental qualities.
The more people ask for and show interest in green window treatments, the more products that will come to market. While the options for window treatments now are good, if demand pushes for it, there might come a day when all window treatments are environmentally friendly. Environmentally friendly doesn’t have to equal drab or boring, there are beautiful, tasteful styles of window coverings available now.

What color should window treatments be in kitchen?
Question by Jazzy33: What color should window treatments be in kitchen?
I just painted my walls in the kitchen an apache clay color (it’s basically a color between deep mauve and milk chocolate – kind of a brown/purple tone). I have dark oak colored cabinets and white appliances. I think I will be making my own roman shades, so I need ideas on what color fabrics to look for. Thanks 🙂

It sounds like the kitchen is somewhat dark and needs to be brightened up. I would use a white material with a tiny pattern, flowers possibly, to match to wall color. This will tie in the white from the appliances and the dark cabinet and paint. If you could find this material, you could also use it to make napkins, place mats, liners in baskets, or chair pads, something to accent and brighten up the room even more.

I really like floor-length curtains. They make any room look a little more classy. I’d probably do traditional rod-pocket curtains for that length. I just painted my living room red and I’m planning to find chocolate brown curtains with some fabulous, earthy texture. I originally wanted wooden blinds instead of curtains for a more modern look, but the price was a little astounding.
