Window Treatments For Better Sleep

Sleep is an essential part of our lives, but to some, sleeping comfortably is a luxury. Isn’t it such a bummer when rays of light are creeping through into the bedroom? This, and some other annoying stuff that you never knew you could remedy with just the help of window coverings.

Window treatments are your best bet to help you sleep well. If you are the type of person who stays up all night and sleeps all day, blackout liners are just what you might need.

Blinds are also very capable of blocking out light because of their interconnected pieces of plastic. However, light can still creep through the tiny holes in horizontal blinds, but you have the option to cover them with tapes. Just squeeze out your creative juices and opt for decorative ones so it doesn’t end up nasty.

Cornice boards and valences are usually attractive but they are not there merely for decorating, it can also help in blocking light from the outside.Roman shades and woven woods are also efficient in preventing the light from the outside to come through and it can also create a shaded area.
Also, room-darkening cellular shades which can filter light and have room darkening qualities also make for good window coverings when you want to sleep tight. Additionally, they have insulating properties that help make your home cool in the summer and warm during winter.

Window treatments that are programmable are also a good choice. By having the timer programmed at a specific time every morning, then you are able to have steady and consistent waking time. Therefore, it prevents your circadian rhythm from being messed up which will ultimately cause you to have better sleeping patterns.

Drapery panels on the sides of the wall are not only pleasing to the eye, but can be pretty practical, too. It gives adequate privacy and also helps in keeping your room cool or warm, harmonizes with your interior décor, and blocks out unnecessary light.

It’s okay to have sleeping problems, only occasionally. Sleep is everyone’s treat to their bodies after a tiring day, so it better be good.

Best Dressed Windows Guide

Revamping any room can bring out excitement in everyone. Redecorating a room, or your entire house, can be an exciting project. Picking new furniture, paint colors, floor coverings and wall art are just a few of the items you must take into consideration. With all these decisions you have to consider, choosing window treatment styles is on top of the list of many people.

Before you even start redecorating, first think of the look and feel of the room that you’re aiming for.

The window treatments you choose can be the finishing touch that pulls this feel together. If you want a causal look, simple tabbed curtains, tie-up shades, or a box-pleated or simple valance hung above a mini-blind can be just fine. If you’re leaning towards a more formal look, long drapes over sheer panels, a swag valance, balloon shade, or long pleated panels can do the trick.

The practicality and function of the window treatments you’re choosing are as significant as the decorating styles that they display. Some items you should take into consideration when choosing your new window treatments include:

Light control. As time passes by, too much sun can fade furniture and even carpeting. A non-fabric shade mounted against the window glass can protect the contents within a room, but along with with drapes or valences that are hung on the window. If you buy custom curtains or drapers, ask about the possibility of having special linings you can use to help prevent sun damage.

Privacy. A lot of homeowners are very specific when it comes to privacy. Complete window coverings, made out of opaque materials, are their best bet. Fabric or roller shades, curtains, drapes and cellular shades come with remarkable privacy as long as you steer clear of sheer materials. Window blinds and shutters are also good choices, given that they are adjusted so you cannot see through the slats.

Safety. If you happen to have small children or pets, safety should always be considered when looking for window treatment styles. Stay away from long drapes and blinds, considering they are tempting chew toys for pets and can be pulled on by little children. More to these, always go for products with breakaway and safety window cord options.

how to make room with huge glass windows look modern yet private?

Question by Alyssa Knowles: how to make room with huge glass windows look modern yet private?
is there another way to enjoy privacy without having to hang windiw treatments?

Best answer:

Answer by Sepro Grace
Translucent panels are easy to maintain, and are far more cost effective then other types of glass, or resin panels. They provide easy solutions to the various challenges faced by architects or interior designers. With residential buildings in particular, one issue that often comes into play is how to use the lighting to meet privacy requirements. With translucent glass, they can then diffuse the light so that it doesn’t bother neighbors, meets all building standards, and still manages to be aesthetically appealing.

What kind of window treatments are best for a child’s room?

Question by Ray Alexander: What kind of window treatments are best for a child’s room?

Best answer:

Answer by James Hite
Sometimes simpler is better. Window treatments in a child’s room can really tie together all the decorating elements. Something charming, colorful, and effective in cutting the light is a perfect choice.
But kids’ rooms deserve special consideration. It’s important that any window covering chosen for a child’s room be safe, functional, colorful, stylish, and fun.

What type of french door window treatment would look good in a room that has white window shutters?

Question by Curious Me: What type of french door window treatment would look good in a room that has white window shutters?
My family room has white window shutters. My dilemma is what type of window treatment to install for my french doors which are in the same room. I don’t want to use something that will clash with the white shutters.

Best answer:

Answer by c_kayak_fun
Why would you want to put “window treatments” (curtains?) on a French door? The purpose of a French door is to let light pass through so I don’t understand why you would want to block that or clutter up the door with useless “decor.”. If you absolutely need something over the glass for privacy, the only thing I’ve ever seen that looked decent on French doors is top and bottom rod-shirred sheer or lace in ivory or white. Since your shutters are white, use white.

Can you combine floor length drapes and window shades on different windows in one room?

Question by samdollylama: Can you combine floor length drapes and window shades on different windows in one room?
My bedroom has two sliding doors to the patio for which I already have gorgeous silk draperies. I added two windows and don’t want to go to the expense of getting silk draperies for two small windows. Besides, I think it would be too much fabric. Has anyone seen two different types of window treatments in one room?

Best answer:

Answer by ShouldBeWorking
As long as they go together, not necessarily match but go together, I like it better.

If your silk drapes are a solid color, you could do floral or striped roman shades, picking up on the color of the silk.If the silk is floral or stripe ,use a solid color shade.

If privacy is an issue I would go with blinds. You can let in light without giving up your privacy. They come in so many colors today. Those I would match to the wall color so they don’t really stand out.
