Elegant Kitchen Window Blinds: Food for the Eyes
In the quest of looking for the perfect kitchen window blinds, aside for considering its physical feature such as the design and color, it should also be effortless to clean and resistant to moisture. Since cooking does not only pile up grease on the kitchen counter or the sink, the blinds also catch the smear thus it is important to pick out the right blinds with the right shade of color so as not to have it replaced every so often. Another point to consider is to do away with blinds that are fabric in material because fabric takes up grease which will require extra effort to clean. It will also suck up the odor of whatever it is your cooking. You wouldn’t want your blinds to smell better than your actual meal right? I didn’t think so.
That is why, here are three of the most recommended kitchen window blinds available for use.
1. Embassy 2″ Faux Wood Blinds with a 2 x 2 metal headrail and a free 3 inch custom crown valance. The wood blinds of this type come in special features but with a very reasonable price. They have that factor one looks for in a kitchen blind and that is being moisture resistant. Other than that, it does not easily chip or crack. It will always look brand new. Because it is made out of Faux wood, cleaning with the use of a cloth wet with water and soap will suffice.
2. Aspen 2″ Faux Wood Blinds. These aspen blinds are traditional but sophisticated. It is very They look so alike with wood that the naked eye will have a hard time differentiating. It have a wide variety of stylish designs so as to blend in with your already present furniture or appliance.
3. Chalet Composite Shutters. Composite shutters contribute a chic and stylish feature not just in the kitchen but anywhere else in the house. It is made out of polymer and American hardwood making it look very similar to original wood. A bar helps tilt the shutter for privacy and light control.
A kitchen is considered one of the most important part of a household. It is where food is prepared and served. It is also the place where family and friends gather around to share a meal and talk about anything and everything under the sun. With that being said, it is but a responsibility of the home owner to create a comfortable kitchen environment fit for its purpose. But isn’t it better if you feed not only the stomach but as well as the eyes? Yes that is possible through dressing up your kitchen with the use of elegant kitchen window blinds.

Ideas, please, to help keep my kitchen from looking too dark?
Question by Sarah M: Ideas, please, to help keep my kitchen from looking too dark?
I’m in the middle of redecorating my kitchen. Appliances are a mixture of black and stainless steel, walls are terra cotta, accent wall is sandy-colored, light oak wood laminate floors, black cabinets, white countertops. Any suggestions for nice, bright accents (rugs, window treatments) to keep it from looking too dark? Please and thank you!

I would suggest a short white sheer valance for your window treatments. As for a color to “pop” in your kitchen, I think green would coordinate with all the other colors. I’m thinking of bright green bottles or vases on your window sill, if possible. Maybe a bowl of limes or granny smith apples. Or a lime green colored jar candle. Just enough to add a splash of color. As for the rugs, I’m thinking they’re going to have to be a shade of white. You seem to have a good sense of style and decorating, so I know you can make this work. Good luck!

I am very fond of the 2 inch faux wood blinds. They can cut them to fit your window at no extra charge. What I like most about them is they are very easy to clean. I put them in the bathtub with some Oxyclean and hot water and even the draw cords are like new. They give you total control of the light. Then you can add a valance over the top to make them more decorative if you want.
In most kitchens the windows are treated with fairly frilly curtains. I used a tailored valance in my latest kitchen just to be a little bit different, and it has a gathered lining (custom made) http://jansseninteriors.blogspot.com/ (the very first photo)
The most important thing to keep in mind for kitchen curtains is that they get dirty, and should be machine washable if you want them to last. Most are not very expensive.

What color should window treatments be in kitchen?
Question by Jazzy33: What color should window treatments be in kitchen?
I just painted my walls in the kitchen an apache clay color (it’s basically a color between deep mauve and milk chocolate – kind of a brown/purple tone). I have dark oak colored cabinets and white appliances. I think I will be making my own roman shades, so I need ideas on what color fabrics to look for. Thanks 🙂

It sounds like the kitchen is somewhat dark and needs to be brightened up. I would use a white material with a tiny pattern, flowers possibly, to match to wall color. This will tie in the white from the appliances and the dark cabinet and paint. If you could find this material, you could also use it to make napkins, place mats, liners in baskets, or chair pads, something to accent and brighten up the room even more.

An antique white would look nice, but I’m not sure how well that would hold up in the kitchen.
One with very subtle tones of blue/green or very light gray would also work as well. Albeit a bit harder to find though.
