My partner and I had a custom drapery workroom in Louisiana and we paid our installers well. Anyone can hang a rod, but only professionals do the job right. You should be looking at the $20-40 an hour range.

The $ 20-$ 40.00 per hour sounds about right. Here on Long Island I paid someone about $ 40.00 an hour for installing. I don’t use him anymore because he was too slow (on purpose to drag it out?) and took a couple of cigarette breaks (on a 2 hour job), which the client commented on.
Although some installers charge per foot (i.e. $ 6.00 per foot).
Yes, it is best to pay someone by the foot for draperies and top treatments, around $ 5 sounds right. Blinds by the piece, usually about $ 8-10 each.
btw…I am an installer
